Salomon CXC Cup

Northwoods Nordic Ski Club will host the Central Cross Country (CXC) Great Lakes Division (GLD) Junior National Cup (JNC) at our CAVOC venue on March 2-3, 2024.   Located off of South Shore Drive, CAVOC has a 2.5km, 3.3km, 5.3km and 1500m FIS homolgulated trail system.

About the Races

This event is a CXC Cup Event and results will be scored to the Regional and National (NRL) ranking lists. The CXC Cup events are sanctioned by the U.S. Ski & Snowboard; a current Cross Country General or Competitor U16+ membership is required to enter the CXC Cup race.  Junior athletes with CXC and US Ski and Snowboard competitor licenses will be scored to the regional and national ranking list.

Race Headquarters and Race Location

Race Headquarters is located in the CAVOC Lodge:  4321 South Shore Drive, Rhinelander, WI.

Race Headquarters and Registration will be open at 8:00 am on Saturday and Sunday.

Team Captains/Coaches Meeting:

A Team Captains/Coaches Meeting will be held in the CAVOC Lodge on both Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd at 5:30pm.

Course Inspection: Friday, March 1, 2024

12 pm to 5 pm - Both the skate distance (5.3km) and the classic sprint (1500m) courses will be marked and open for preview.  All turning zones will be marked.  A single classic track will be set on the skate distance (5.3 km) course.

Race Distances: Saturday, March 2nd

8:00am - Course open.  Bibbed coaches may be on course earlier.
8:00am until 10:00am - Registration is open.
9:30am - Course Closed.
Start times will be posted after registration is closed.  It is anticipated that start times will begin at 10:00am.

The order of starts is as below.

Male U16 - Free Technique-Individual Start, 5.3km 
Female U16 - Free Technique-Individual Start, 5.3km 
Male U18/U20 - Free Technique-Individual Start, 10.6km (2 laps)
Female U18/U20 - Free Technique-Individual Start, 10.6km (2 laps)

Race Distance: Sunday, March 3rd

8:00am - Grooming completed and course open.  Bibbed coaches may be on course earlier.
8:00am until 10:00am - Registration is open
9:30am - Course Closed
 
10:00am - Qualifying
Male U16 - Classic Technique-Sprint, 1500m 
Female U16 - Classic Technique-Sprint, 1500m 
Male U18/U20 - Classic Technique-Sprint, 1500m
Female U18/U20 - Classic Technique-Sprint, 1500m

12:00 Noon - Heats start

Wax Regulations

Fluoro waxes are not permitted at this event. No indoor waxing facilities will be provided.  Some outdoor power hook-ups will be available.  If you are bringing a wax tent or trailer and require a power source, please contact us by Friday so we can set aside an area for you.  We have limited space so let us know early to assure a spot.

Coach and Race Staff Registration

Only USSS coaching members with their assigned bibs, bibbed athletes, and credentialed volunteers/officials can be in the Field of Play (i.e., course, wax testing area and warm up trails).

CAVOC Lodge, Spectators and Parking

The CAVOC Lodge is open and available for participants to gather.  Several rows of tables and chairs will be setup to spread out.

There are several great viewing areas for spectators at the venue.  Parking is available onsite with quick access to the venue.  Indoor bathroom facilities are available in the CAVOC lodge and several porta potties are present.  

No dogs are allowed on the CAVOC property.
