Sponsoring the Ascension Hodag Challenge @ #Best5kmInTheMidwest #CAVOC Trails.
Mark your calendar on January 26th and 27th 2019 when the Northwoods Nordic Ski Club and its sponsors will host an NCAA qualifier for the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) at CAVOC (Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom) in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. This is the 3rd year in a row the CCSA has traveled to Rhinelander to race on the #Best5kmInTheMidwest!
CAVOC presents one of the most engaging courses out there and Northwoods Nordic continues to create a locally based all encompassing race experience with two local race officials certified by FIS/USSA and course setting/inspection by our local Olympian!
The two races are part of the CCSA race series (http://www.ccsaski.com) scored for NCAA qualification in March! The collegiate skiers only have 10 races (2 @ CAVOC) to score in the top 6 or 7 and qualify for the postseason. There will be a women's 5 kilometer and a men’s 10 kilometer individual start (one at a time race against the clock) on Saturday and a women's 15 kilometer (3 laps) and a men’s 20 kilometer (4 laps) Mass Start on Sunday.
On Saturday following the races Holiday Acres Resort will be hosting an informal social for those often forgotten spectators, volunteers and coaches. More details to come!
Stay tuned for more event details and race information as we get closer! We are excited to have this high level racing return to Rhinelander! Also, please invite friends and family to this event!
